First i started off by researching the milankovitch cycle and its effects on the earths climate. The Milankovitch cycles describe the collective effects of changes in the earths movements on its climate over thousands of years (variation of solar radiation). I also looked at the moons effect on climate as when it is high in the sky it creates bulges in the earths atmosphere that causes slight change in the precipitation leveles. The higher air pressure leads to increased temperature as warmer air can hold more moisture.
I then looked at the work of Charlie Immer. He states that hisown subconscious comes from the chemicals in his brain that are sloshing around in just the right way for him to enjoy and persue the things that he does. I interpreted his work as a visual representation of the results of future climate change and possibly even a post nuclear existance.
When out on a walk i came across lots of fallen leaves and i thought that the colours and shapes were nice and it reminded me of the life cycle of a tree which inspired me to research the effect cliamte change has on trees and vice versa.
As the climate continues to warm some areas will get a dramatic rise in temperature. When a plant doesnt get enough water it results in leaf scorch, stem dieback and suceptability to pests and pathogens. However we need plants as they are our most powerful weapons. They are the ultimate carbon capture and storage machine.
I have also done research on ethics within advertising and discussing how far can photo manipulation still be ethical. Looking at magazines to real photos that won awards for their realness.
Finally i completed a photoshop turorial on digital image creation. I learnt valuable skills such as masking, blend modes, and distortion. The image links to my FMP as i have linked it to the work of charlie immer. It reminds me of a post nuclear land and its effects on the environment as in the image you can see a nuclear power tower releasing harmful chemicals into the air along with an elephant standing on water with wings.
