I started off by taking some pictures of a friend to create designs for my ping pong bat inspired by Roy Lichtensteins work and how he presents women crying. I then drew out design 1 on photoshop. I have drawn her in the same art style as Roy - paying close attention to shape and colour. I included a thought bubble with the message 'when will this pandemic end?' as it represents how we all feel - inspired by the 'drowning girl' piece. I have also added the tears and the whiteline going down her face as it is a common appearance in his work.
I then created a 2nd digital design on photoshop inspired by Roys work. I have taken another photo of my friend - this time wearing a mask and drew it in the pop art style - again paying close detail to shape and colour. Her skin is made up of hundreds of individual dots to make it look more textured. The thought bubble on this one reads 'Why wont everyone just wear a mask' as i find that it is a common question asked in this pandemic.
I then did some itterations of colour for each ping pong bat. I tried using the 3 primary colours red, blue and yellow as they are very bold and are used in pop art a lot.
